Toyota Asks For New US Trademark for Supra Name
Toyota has applied for a new trademark for the Supra nameplate, which can only mean there’s some truth to the vicious rumors that have been circulating about a possible 2014 Toyota Supra. The badge originally expired in 2006, at which time Toyota didn’t feel it was really necessary to re-new it. Now, with the Toyota FT86 creating a buzz and the 2010 Lexus LF-A securing Toyota’s image as an exciting automaker again, they decided the name would make a comeback.
Nobody’s sure what exactly the car will look like, but expect some version of it to break cover in the next couple years, with production beginning a couple years after that. Akio Toyoda told press recently that he wants the car in development soon and wants it to far surpass the last Supra.
