Future of Redline Announced…And the bad news for the east coast.

As the news spreads regarding the future direction of Redline Time Attack, I feel it is necessary for me to convey my side of the story. First and foremost, the decision to temporarily suspend our “East Coast†operations was not an easy one to make. Ever since Redline Time Attack launched in 2006, we’ve been hosting events in the eastern part of the country. Five solid years of running events, at venues like BeaveRun, Summit Point, VIR, Gateway, CMP, NJMP, Autobahn and Sebring. There are five years of awesome memories there. Friendships that have been formed and relationships with our customers that are valued deeply. The decision to suspend our East operations was purely a business one.
It came down to numbers, or in this case, a lack of numbers. For five years, the support, in general, for Redline Time Attack events outside of the “West Coast†has been poor. There has always been a core group of 40-50 East competitors that have supported Redline well.
But 40-50 doesn’t pencil. We simply could no longer justify the expenses associated with hosting events in regions of the country where there was not adequate support for what we were doing. It’s those 40-50 people that I am most upset for and whom I will miss the most. There are some absolutely fantastic individuals involved in the sport of time attack out East.
A list of names that would be too long for me to list here. You know who you are… we’ve bench-raced together, we’ve drank beers together, we’ve worked together, we’ve shared some awesome experiences along the way. I wish all of you the best of luck in your racing and business endeavors. I’ve spoken with many of you, and those of you who “get itâ€, realize this had to be done, and are already anxiously awaiting our return.
We are going to focus our efforts on hosting events where we have historically received strong support. We’re adjusting the format of our Time Attack competitions to better showcase the top-level talent and cars involved in the sport, in addition to significant increases in on-site fan attendance and print/digital media coverage. We are also launching an exciting new format of racing with an accompanying television program. The new relationships we are forging with additional media and marketing companies will strengthen Redline now, better preparing us for the future.
I am not writing off the East entirely. We have open invitations from facilities across the East to come back when we are able to and when it makes sense. It is going to be a tough 18 or so months of being absent from the East, but it will be an 18 months that all of us can get through. – Nikolas
