Ford Releases Supercharger Kit For 2011 5.0 Mustang GT
Durring the Woodward Dream Cruise this past weekend Ford showed off a 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 with a new supercharger kit available through Ford Racing. It was developed in conjunction with Whipple and Roush to produce big gains in power with no loss in drivability or reliability. “After more than 100 hours of accelerated durability testing, the entire Ford Racing package performed flawlessly†reports Dev Saberwal, Ford Racing’s lead calibration engineer.
The unit is a 2.3 liter twin screw design which will produce in excess of 15 pounds of boost with the correct pulleys. The advantage of a twin screw design over a centrifugal unit is that boost can build at much lower rpms and say consistent over the power range. This supercharger comes as a complete package, and it’s available in three levels: a 525 hp kit with a 12/12 warranty if installed by a dealer; a 624 hp kit, and a tuner kit for racing and hardcore enthusiasts.
