Former world road racing champion Alessandro Ballan will lead the BMC Racing Team at the Tour Down Under, the first event of cycling’s 2012 UCI ProTour.

The UCI’s Licensing Commission met last week and has ruled that five additional teams have earned UCI WorldTour licences.
Cedar Springs, Michigan resident, Theresa Cliff-Ryan joins Exergy TWENTY12 for the 2012 season. Cliff-Ryan is noted for her swift sprint and determination, and as a result, has constantly been on the top step of the NRC and Championship podium with nine wins in 2011. In 2006, her first year of racing, she was crowned National Criterium Champion.  Recent results include a gold medal in 2010 Pan American Championships and a bronze this year in the Pan Am road race. Cliff-Ryan also had a solid European campaign working along side former Colavita/Forno D’Asalo teammate, World Champion, Giorgia Bronzini.
Ride for Kids® ends season on high note in Tampa Bay
During the three-day meeting in Bogota, the new Colombia-Coldeportes professional cycling team officially presented the new jersey that will distinguish the riders in the peloton in 2012. The team managed by Claudio Corti will wear a beautiful black outfit, with the colors of the Colombian flag standing out, as they were recalled on the special “Sempre” bike Bianchi realized for the Colombian team. “We thought over the team’s look for a long time - Claudio Corti explained - and we finally chose this jersey that will strongly characterize our team, as it mirrors the personality we want this climbing and fighting bunch of riders to show“.
At the Coldeportes Center of High Performance in Bogotà , the team underwent the effort tests – coordinated by Team Doctor Massimiliano Mantovani and by Center’s director Mauricio Serrato. There is a lot of enthusiasm in the Team at their very first impact with this new reality. “It’s an extremely important project - said Victor Hugo Pena, one of the most experienced rider in 2012 roster, on behalf of the whole team - that is going to give young Colombian riders a great chance to express their potential. We are extremely happy and looking forward to tackle this new season, in which we will face the reality of European cycling. We are definitely confident we can be competitive at this levelâ
It seems every year that the off season keeps getting shorter and shorter. He we are on December 9th, with the Giro d’Lombardia not long out of our memory, and teams are back at training camp and talking about the TdU.
Slipstream Sports today announced that it has entered into a partnership with AA Drink/Leontien.nl whereby AA Drink/Leontin.nl will operate the Women’s Pro Cycling Team at the races and the team will continue to be maintained by Slipstream. As part of the partnership, Emma Pooley, Lizzie Armistead, Lucy Martin, Sharon Laws, Carla Ryan and Jessie Daams will ride for the AA Drink / Leontien.nl Cycling Team and the entire team will ride Cervélo bikes, competing at the highest level of women’s professional cycling.
